Just arrived with us at RFH Classics is this beautiful 1976 (P) Rover P6 2200 SC 4 Dr Auto finished in Richelieu Red with Buckskin Velour trim. This MKII Rover P6 is a real credit to the former owner who had the car for the last 13 years during which it lived in his warm dry garage. When we collected the car it was driven back to the showroom and we can confirm that everything about the car is excellent including the Auto gearbox that changes smoothly. Under the last owner the car was treated to a complete repaint which was done about 8 years ago and still has a second to none finish with a deep shine and unlike many others of this period, thankfully does not have a vinyl roof.
The MKII P6 Rover was introduced in 1970 and ran through until production ceased in 1977. The MKII saw the introduction of the 2204cc engine in 1973 that was produced to meet the certain countries emission laws and came as either a TC (Twin Carb) or SC (Single Carb) variants. The P6 Rover has always been a bit of a iconic shape, I remember as a youngster seeing the shape and always being impressed by it and the same has to be said today, the shape has aged well and still looks good now. Inside this example the velour trim is finished in Biscuit, a colour that compliments the exterior very well. When you sit in the drivers seats you a met with a well laid out dash with all the control very close to hand including a very period radio. The trim has worn very well for a 48 year old car and the displayed mileage we are lead to believe is correct and supported by an array of old MOT test that are in the history file. This particular car has only had 4 owners with the first keeper, a Mrs Walsh of Polegate owning the car for 13 years followed by a Mr Rogers of Chelmsford who had the car 2 years before passing it on to Mr Todd who during his 20 years of owners appears to have spent a considerable amount looking after and maintaining the car before selling it to the last owner in 2011.
Under the bonnet sits a petrol 4 cylinder engine that is running lovely on Super unleaded and paired to a 3 speed Automatic gearbox. In the office we have a history file that contains old copies of the V5's, receipts for work and old MOT test certificates that date from 1998 to 2011 along with some hand written notes that indicate the car has had nearly £16k spent on it by previous owners and looking at the car today I think this shows.
