With us at RFH Classics is this 1980 (W) MG Midget 1500 Anniversary Edition finished in Gloss Black with matching Black trim. The Anniversary Edition Midget was produced by MG to celebrate the end of the very successful Midget range. The production run was limited to just 500 cars all of which were finished in the Gloss Black and of which this is number 44 of the 500. These special editions are now very collectable and also desirable to own. When the previous owner purchased the car around five years ago he and his father set about the task of carrying out an extensive restoration to the whole car and as you can see from the pictures they have made a very good job of it. It is nice to that the original seats have been reused in order to keep the car true to the Anniversary spec and whilst it is not new the vinyl roof is original spec and is in very good condition with a clear rear window.

Like all the later rubber bumper Midgets the Anniversary edition was fitted with a 1491cc 4 cylinder petrol engine that is paired to a 4 speed manual gearbox. Whilst the engine and box were out during the restoration program the car was fitted with a new clutch and slave cylinder. We are advised by the previous owners that the engine was converted to to run lead free and now with a little choke the engine fires into life and runs very well with good hot and cold oil pressure. The brakes were subjected to an overhaul with new wheel cylinders, shoes and pads fitted and to complete the look of the car the original Rostyle road wheels were refurbished and then fitted with new tyres all round so the car is now ready for a new owner to enjoy and treasure.
