Low Ownership Stunning Example
MG MGB
Coupe GT (1979)
Here at RFH Classics, we are thrilled to bring to market this stunning 1979 (V) MGB GT, a true British icon finished in the vibrant Pageant Blue. Complete with its original Grey Stripe Deck Chair Cloth seats, this beautifully preserved example exudes classic charm. Having been lovingly owned by its third keeper, this exceptional MGB GT has not been available for sale since it was purchased from Lavender Hill Garage, the local Rover & MG dealer in Enfield, London, in November 1984, nearly 40 years ago.
The MGB GT remains as popular today as ever, embodying the very essence of classic motoring. Few examples can match the heritage and quality of this car, making it one of the finest on the market today. With its outstanding condition, this MGB GT has been elevated to collector status and represents a rare opportunity to own a cherished classic that would appeal to both seasoned collectors and passionate enthusiasts alike.
The radiant paintwork, Ziebart-protected from new, maintains a deep lustre with minimal patina and is perfectly complemented by 15" Minilite alloy wheels with four matching tyres. The black rubber bumpers remain in pristine condition, further enhancing the striking paintwork. Inside, the original cloth trim has been impeccably preserved, adding to the car’s authenticity and appeal.
Under the bonnet, the engine bay reflects the care this car has received over its lifetime with clear evidence of Ziebart treatment from new. The 1798cc 4-cylinder petrol engine benefits from being an Ivor Searle Unleaded replacement unit that was fitted in 2009 at 11,970 and so has done very little mileage. The 4-speed manual gearbox features Overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears, and the engine fires up with minimal choke when cold. The dials indicate excellent oil pressure at both cold and hot temperatures, as expected from such a meticulously cared-for vehicle. The history file is comprehensive, featuring MOT tests from 1983 through to the present day, along with annual service records that meticulously document the car’s extensive history. The indicated mileage is lower as the speedometer was replaced at 66,800 miles in 2003 due to a fault. The total distance covered is 80,517 miles, which we warrant as correct based on the detailed annual service history.
This is truly an outstanding example of a much-loved classic, offering a rare opportunity for its next owner to continue its cherished legacy.
