With the roof down the car comes into its own with what can only be described as stunning looks. The flowing bodyline of the car is only enhanced when you stand back and admire is beautiful lines. The fluted Tan Connolly leather trim is highlighted when you see the car with its roof in the lowered position and as you climb in and sit in the driver’s seat, you are greeted by the array of Smiths and Hobson instruments and dials, all perfectly in keeping with the age and period of the car.

The car starts on the button, literally, and runs so very well. As with all cars of this age they are ‘interesting’ to drive for the 1st time but very soon you will get used to the size of the car and lack of modern drivers aids and sit in the extremely comfortable seat and enjoy driving a piece of motoring history.

The car is accompanied by a very substantial history file detailing the extensive work to the car through its various owners. Although registered in 1939 the car originally built in 1938 according to the records held with the Lagonda club. The car is fitted with the Meadow engine 4.5 Litre that delivered for the age of the car a very generous 180 hp. The Lagonda LG6 originally arrived onto the market in 1937 and was capable of going from 7 to 105 mph in top gear and rev to 5,000 rpm.

In total only 82 LG6 were produced of which around 50 are documented by the Lagonda Club today. This car was originally registered as FYF 6 which was a London issued plate which was later replaced to BTB 823 in 1972. The plate that the car is fitted with today, HJC 50, was fitted in 1975 by the then owner Harold J Collins. In 1976 Harold sold the car to Emery Gottschall of De Plaines, Illinois however in 1982 the car returned to its former keeper Harold. The last registered keeper purchased the car in 1989 and has owned and cherished the car since then.

History of Lagonda
The Lagonda company was founded in 1906 in Staines, Middlesex, by an American, Wilbur Gunn, a former opera singer. He became a British national in 1891 and worked as a speed boat and motorcycle engineer in Staines. Gunn named the company after the Shawnee settlement "Lagonda" in modern-day Springfield, Ohio, the town of his birth. The First Lagonda car was produced in 1907 when he launched the 20 hp, six-cylinder Torpedo, which he used to win the Moscow – St Petersburg trial of 1910. This success produced a healthy order for exports to Russia which continued until 1914. In 1913 Lagonda introduced an advanced small car, the 11.1, with a four-cylinder 1,099 cc engine, which, by 1914, featured a Panhard rod and a rivetted unibody body and the first ever fly-off handbrake as fitted to this LG6.
